World Press Foto Zutphen 2016
On the 27th of July, my sister and me visited the World Press Photo Exhibition in the Walburgiskerk in Zutphen. A lot of painful shots of refugees; war and their saddest victims: children. The church was a contrasting scenery for the photo’s and their content.
Prt2 was my favorite photo (by Mario Cruz). Senegal; kind of school, with a lot of violence and fear. The silhouetted figures, together in their loneliness, suited the content very well..
Must have been interesting although very sad.
Sure; after a while I started thinking if I would be able to go on shooting in the middle of a destroyed village, with desperate people and crying and bleeding children around… A parent, carrying a dead child; I think I could not take the shot. On the other hand it’s good to show the naked truth.
I guess there must have been a very emotional exhebition, children are always the one’s to suffer the most in this horifying world. But it is a good thing someone dares to take photos of what is going on, we need to be reminded of this. Photos are strong in that sense, to be an eye-opener.
I agree; thank you, Lena.
