Tunnel Vision

First day we biked to Malmedy, following the RAVeL L45, which brought us to this Tunnel; non trains anymore; very cold..

In front of me

Bungalow-park Domaine Long Pré; near Stavelot in Belgium. In front of me the small bungalow we stayed in; the one with the orange chair was ours. Pretty small, but most of the time we were out anyway. No WiFi and no dishwasher… Behind me the river Amblève. In our backyard.. 🙂

Behind me

Vennbahn prt1

I’m back!… 🙂 We had a really good holiday. Main goal was to bike ‘Die Vennbahn’. It’s a former railway line, that starts in Aachen and goes all the way through Belgium, to end up in Troisvierges in the North of Luxembourg. It is very well marked; and it bikes ‘very smooth’, because trains are not capable of making extreme curves in either horizontal or vertical directions. The Southern part is ‘just’ a bike track, without railway clues from the past; but the Northern part has old railway stations, pieces of old railway tracks; rusty train signs and other stuff that reminds of the days that trains were still running the track. It’s open as a bike track since 2013.

Last view over the valley. Somewhere, just right from the middle is our ferienhaus. It wasn’t our most successful holiday ever; but after all it was a good place to stay! 🙂
